Quadrat Sponsorship & Memorials
In the Paint Rock forest dynamics plot, our researchers have tagged, measured, and identified some 90,000 trees across 150 acres—and we’ll keep tabs on these and any new growth for the next five decades. You can directly sponsor a slice of this research and the diversity of individual quadrats. When you do, we’ll name a quadrat after you or in memoriam of a loved one and track all the diversity and findings that ensue for at least half a century.
Your sponsored quadrat will do more than support the forest census. Your support will ensure the training, housing, and financial support of a new and diverse generation of students. Your quadrat will offer a new window into how forests assemble, how they survived in the past, and how they’ll survive the many chances of the future.
What’s a Research Quadrat?
A research quadrat stretches across a 65-foot by 65-foot area—about the size of a suburban lot. Twenty-five quadrats become a hectare of research. Your support at the quadrat or hectare level helps ensure that we can continue censusing this plot for at least 50 years.
WHAT DOES SPONSORSHIP INCLUDE?
- Your quadrat or hectare posted on our Quadrat Donor Spotlights map
- Your name or memoriam marked on the quadrat canvas at Paint Rock Research Center
- Annual updates with precisely what researchers have found in your quadrat or hectare
CHOOSE YOUR SPONSORSHIP LEVEL
1 named quadrat = $1,000
1 named hectare (2.5 acres, 25 quadrats) = $25,000
36 named hectares = $900,000
Every quadrat with your name on it will leverage an equal amount of matching dollars.
